History and Profile
From the time of its founding in 1976, quality has been Interval's core value and guiding principle. Interval's focus on quality and its innovative approach to the products and services it offers resort clients and consumer members continue to guide all aspects of its business today. As a result, its clients include quality-tier hospitality brands and leading independent resort developers.Interval was acquired by Leaguestar plc, a London-based leisure-services holding company, in 1988, enabling the company to expand its worldwide network of offices. In 1992, CUC International, a publicly traded provider of membership-based discount consumer services, acquired the majority of Leaguestar, including Interval. Late in 1997, CUC International merged with HFS, Inc. to form Cendant Corporation. In conjunction with the merger, CUC divested Interval to an independent investment group headed by Willis Stein & Partners, L.P., a Chicago-based partnership. USA Interactive, now known as IAC, purchased Interval in 2002.
Interval Leisure Group became an independent publicly traded company in August 2008 following a spin-off from IAC.
